Outro destaque é a banda Kasabian que foi indicada em seis categorias: Melhor Banda Ao Vivo, Melhor Álbum (West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum), Melhor Clipe (Fire), Melhor Retribuição ao Fã (pelo vídeo Vlad The Impaler) e Melhor Capa de Álbum (West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum).

O Shockwaves NME Awards é conhecido por suas categorias incomuns, como Herói do Ano e Vilão do Ano. A apresentação da cerimônia será feita por Jarvis Cocker, vocalista e guitarrista do grupo Pulp, que acabou em 2002. As bandas Kasabian, Biffy Clyro, The Big Pink, The Specials e The Maccabees tocarão durante a entrega do prêmio, além da banda Hole, de Courtney Love, que voltou a ativa neste mês após 11 anos.
